Members of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police managed, in close coordination with the services of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, to arrest, on Wednesday, 21 people in the city of Meknes, on suspicion of their involvement in committing acts of extortion and threatening to commit felonies and misdemeanors against persons and property.

A security source stated that the suspects, who ranged between 19 and 65 years of age and most of them have criminal records, were arrested during security operations that were carried out simultaneously in a group of neighborhoods in the city of Meknes, on suspicion of being linked to the activity of criminal networks involved in exposing merchants and sellers to extortion and threats to commit crimes. felonies and misdemeanors in exchange for amounts of money that are collected periodically, claiming that they are allowed to offer their goods for sale and carry out their commercial activities.

He added that the preliminary information of the research indicates that the suspects exploited random parking lots and stopped cars without a license, and used them to blackmail drivers and collect sums of money from them without legal reason.

The suspects have been kept under theoretical guard at the disposal of the judicial investigation that is taking place under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, in order to reveal all the circumstances and circumstances of this case, as well as to identify possible intersections and links to this criminal activity.
