The security services arrested Abdel-Taher El-Hassawy, known as “Al-Hassawy” in Giza, after escaping from Al-Shurafa village in Edfu in Aswan and seizing the people’s money for allegedly using them in the car trade.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement today, Saturday, that the security services monitored the hesitation of a number of citizens in front of a car showroom owned by a person residing in Edfu police station in Aswan.
The citizens demanded the recovery of their money from the owner of the car showroom for defrauding them and seizing their money, claiming that it was used in the car trade in a “promise” manner, and that he obtained their cars to operate them, and that he did not pay on time.
Some people set fire to the house of the accused’s father, his aunt’s son, and an angel’s car “without plates”, and caused damage to a truck without plates. The fire was brought under control by the civil protection forces and the perpetrators of the incident were arrested.
The search efforts resulted in the arrest of the accused, the owner of the car showroom, in his hiding place in the Omrania Police Department in Giza, with 16 gold bars weighing 10,500 kilograms, and a sum of money. His father and a number of his aides were arrested.
The Edfu police station had received dozens of reports since this morning, against “Al-Hasawy”, after news of his escape and seizure of millions of pounds, after dealing with his victims in the trade of livestock, cars and money.
It is worth noting that Al-Hasawi is the fourth fraudster in the city of Edfu, during a short period of time, using the same method.
The security services had arrested 3 of them accused of defrauding citizens with sums amounting to half a billion pounds. They were investigated and imprisoned for 4 days pending investigations.
