»The Artificial Donut Challenge«: Digital donut art

Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently on everyone’s lips. Donuts are also on everyone’s lips, but not only metaphorically. A pastry that is as inextricably linked to carnival as AI is to digitization. Bringing the best of both worlds together and creating something worth seeing at the same time, that’s what the Ströck bakery has been encouraging on its website for the past few weeks – and enticing people with free donuts for life.

Digital works of art could be created by entering text – only the word »donut« had to appear in the input. In total over 96,000 entries there were, from which a winner was selected every week. From the 15 weekly winners was the decision of the jury in the Belvedere 21 Theresa Patsch, on whose artwork a carp eats a donut. “The use of artificial intelligence is constantly gaining influence in the work of artists,” explained the winner.
