Al-Marsad newspaper: During the past few hours, the Egyptian artist, Mohamed Ramadan, sparked a state of widespread controversy on social media, because of his image of embracing an Israeli girl named Maya Zakaria.
It turned out that the girl was a former soldier in the Israeli army, and she happened to be with Muhammad Ramadan at his concert in Greece, last Friday evening, according to the Sada Al-Balad website.
And Israeli affairs expert Sarah Sharif explained, on her personal page on the social networking site Facebook, that “the girl in the arms of the Egyptian artist is an Israeli Jew from Beit Shemesh, and she was a conscript in the Israeli army … but it is not certain that Muhammad Ramadan knew her nationality or identity.”
