An hour after the tweet was posted in the EA Slack internal chat, work began on a plan to turn the negative message into a positive one. The original idea was for other EA accounts to join in on the frying of the joke, drawing attention to various single player games under the publisher’s wing. But some employees noted that this would only reinforce the online perception that EA hates its own studios and teams.
EA is reportedly continuing to deal with the fallout from the botched tweet by holding team meetings with studio executives who saw the joke as an insult to their games and employees.
Moreover, it turned out that no one from EA maintains an official company account on Twitter – “newbies” do this, most of which do not understand the gaming industry at all.
