Marvel Studios has released the new trailer for the Secret Invasion series. This Disney+ series will air from June 21, 2023. Samuel L Jackson returns as Nick Fury and now he has a special mission on Earth that he must complete alone without the Avengers.
“Where are the Avengers?” came the question from a SHIELD agent. Nick Fury then explained that this time he mightn’t do this mission with the Avengers. The mission that will be carried out by Nick Fury this time is related to the Skrulls who are already on Earth and living among humans.
Old faces are featured in Secret Invasion, including Ben Mendelsohn who plays a Skrull named Talos. Previously he was introduced in Captain Marvel and had appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Then also appeared Cobie Smulders playing Maria Hill, Nick Fury’s closest partner.
Together with them, Don Cheadle also returns to play James Rhodes. Then there is the appearance of Martin Freeman who plays Everett K Ross. We still don’t know how many of their appearances will be in this 6 episode series.
Among those who have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before, there are also new faces such as Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman. The two British actresses will respectively play G’iah and Sonya Falsworth.
The character of Emilia Clarke in Secret Invasion has become a big question among fans. It has now been confirmed that he will play a Skrull named G’iah who previously made a brief appearance in a scene in Captain Marvel. G’iah is the son of Talos who also has a special mission. The footage from the Emilia Clarke scene in the Secret Invasion trailer doesn’t really explain much regarding what mission she’s doing.
In addition to the names above, Secret Invasion will also feature Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik, Dermot Mulroney as US President, then Carmen Ejogo, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Chaylayne Woodard whose roles have not been revealed.
The Secret Invasion trailer hints at an important and mysterious mission and features battles and explosions. A darker nuance is presented here and is very different from several Disney+ series that aired last year such as She-Hulk and Ms Marvel.
