The new “Batman” film starring Robert Pattinson has reportedly had the second-best theatrical release in the US since the beginning of the corona pandemic. As the industry journal Variety reported, “The Batman” grossed more than $128 million (117 million euros) on its first weekend. This is not only the best theatrical release in the USA this year. The dark superhero strip was the second film in the corona pandemic to break the 100 million dollar mark in just one weekend. The flick grossed $248.4 million worldwide in its first weekend.
‘The Batman’ can’t hold a candle to ‘Spiderman’
In December 2021, “Spiderman: No Way Home” with Tom Holland made more than 260 million US dollars (almost 239 million euros) in the USA on the opening weekend.
