Laurent Ciman does not hide it. He was boiling inside him during certain moments of last Sunday’s match between the Orlando team and CF Montreal.
If the assistant coach was able to keep his calm, he did not hesitate to denounce certain things that happened during this duel during an interview with Jean-Charles Lajoie on Thursday.
“I’m wiser with experience. Being an assistant coach, if I start showing signs of nervousness or things like that, it’s not good for the players. We saw that the Orlando players did not come to win or to try to offer some play. We knew very well, with the team they have, that they were going to try to waste time or hang on to us a little, but we were able to keep our calm.
The Belgian also admits that what is happening with CF Montreal at the moment is special and that this group can achieve great things, even if New York City FC presents a big challenge.
“We will have to be careful. It’s still the champions and a team that has experience. It will be played on details. It’s definitely going to be a big game. We mostly keep our focus on ourselves. We know we have the individual and collective qualities to beat any team. We know that New York is a very good team and we respect that.
Ciman also believes the Montreal crowd could have a big impact on Sunday’s game.
“I want to thank them. I have rarely seen, never even seen, the atmosphere that we felt against Orlando. I think it will be the same against New York on Sunday. I hope that many will come because we need them to go after ourselves.
