US President Joe Biden, who has promised greater financial transparency, and his wife Jill Biden have declared just over $600,000 in income to the federal tax administration for 2021, the White House said on Friday.
The presidential couple declared 610,702 dollars, and paid 150,439 dollars in income tax, a tax rate of 24.6%, details the American executive.
By publishing their tax returns, the president and his wife – the first First Lady to work as a university professor – have revived a tradition dating from the 1970s and interrupted by the previous president, Republican Donald Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff declared an annual income of $1.6 million in 2021 to the federal tax administration, and paid $523,371 in income tax, or a rate of 31.6%.
