Released in the 90s, Catan is probably one of the most iconic board games. Combining management and strategy, the game asks you to explore the island of Catania in search of resources to then build cities and roads, the final objective being to expand its territory as much as possible. Since then, it has been entitled to several adaptations, in particular in virtual reality on PC or via a smartphone and Switch version, but it is now our home consoles that will benefit from it.

stamped Catan : Console Editionthis new version will adapt the famous board game on PlayStation and Xbox. Surprisingly, it is not Twin Sails Interactive (formerly Asmodee) that publishes this port, but the Nomad Games studio which is in charge of the port, supported by Dovetail Games in the edition (although Asmodee remains in control of the rights) . The team will thus offer an adaptation designed for home consoles, with 4K/60 Fps optimization on new generation, an enhanced level of detail and other visual improvements.
Of course, we are waiting to see how the title will be configured to be played on the controller, a real challenge for a port of this type. There will be a single player mode to play against an AI, local play to play with your loved ones as well as multiplayer to find friends online or face strangers up to 4 players. Ranked games will also be integrated, as well as some cosmetics to reward players.
For now, no release date, but a short trailer. We know, however, that Catan : Console Edition is expected on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series sometime in 2023.
