Ernakulam: The bodies of a youth and his six-year-old daughter who jumped from the top of the Aluva Marthandavarma Bridge in Periyar have been found. The bodies of MC Laiju (36), son of Chandran and Shanta couple, and Arya Nanda, the youngest daughter of Laiju and Savita couple, who are studying in class 1, were found in the house of Chengamanadu Puduvassery Mallissery.
Laiju runs a sanitary shop in a rented building at Puduvassery intersection near his home. Savita has been working as a beautician in Dubai for regarding five years. According to the family, on Thursday morning, Arya, who studies at Athani Assisi School, was being picked up by Laiju on a scooter. Arya is sent by regular school bus. Relatives say that Laiju took her daughter on a scooter saying that she was going to Athani on Thursday morning.
After hours, the news of Laiju jumping into Periyar with her baby came out. Savita had informed that she would come to the country next month to celebrate her son’s birthday, but she returned home on Thursday followingnoon as her mother was ill. Meanwhile, the tragic incident happened. Eldest son Advaidev Aluva Vidyadhiraja Vidyabhavan is a class 5 student. Relatives say that Laiju’s heavy financial burden caused the crime.
