In Côte d’Ivoire, the brewer Solibra will no longer bottle Coca-Cola products. The partnership between the Ivorian brewer, a subsidiary of Castel, and the American giant will end at the end of June, after 25 years of collaboration.
It is a separation by mutual agreement, according to an internal information note at Solibra. From July, the Ivorian brewer, a subsidiary of the French Castel group, will no longer bottle products of the Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite or Schweppes brands.
It must be said that, probably already feeling the tide turn, last summer Castel launched its own brand of cola (World Cola) for its African markets and that in Côte d’Ivoire, Solibra has been offering, for several years , a range of sodas and other sugary drinks that it intends to develop.

Coca-Cola will not disappear from the tables of the Abidjan maquis, however, since according to our colleagues from the Africa Intelligence site, it is the Ivorian group Carré d’Or, present in particular in distribution, which will now ensure the bottling of the American soft drink. in Ivory Coast.

Note that the Solibra – Coca-Cola divorce is also repeated in neighboring Burkina. The Burkinabè brewer Brakina, also a subsidiary of Castel, suffered the same fate as Solibra and also saw its partnership with the Atlanta firm stopped.
