The British company Inchcape reaches an agreement with the Del Río family to acquire Derco | Economy

The transaction will allow the latter’s shareholders to take ownership of Inchcape, including the right to appoint a director.

The owners of Derco will thus become shareholders of Inchcape with a 9.3% share.

Of course, the operation was subject to compliance with the conditions of the transaction and the approval of the regulatory authorities. It is expected to be fully completed in late 2022 or early 2023.

“This association is a great leap that will allow us to be part of a world leader in the distribution of automobiles. Since it was founded by José Luis del Río Rondanelli, growth and internationalization have always been part of Derco’s vision,” Edmundo Hermosilla, CEO of Dercorp, Derco’s parent company, said in a statement.

Inchcape is one of the leading global multi-brand automobile distributors, operates in more than 40 markets and territories with a portfolio of the world’s leading automobile brands. It entered the Americas in 1993, initially distributing new vehicles and BMW parts in Chile and Peru.

Today it distributes new vehicles and parts in more than 11 markets and territories throughout South and Central America and the Caribbean, for OEMs including BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Daimler, Subaru, Suzuki, DFSK, Jaguar, Land Rover, Geely, and various commercial vehicle partners.

It has long-standing distribution partnerships with Suzuki (since 1976) and Mazda (since 1982), and a history of introducing new brands to their markets: Chevrolet in 1999; Renault in 2000; Changan, Great Wall, JAC and Haval between 2006 and 2007 and DS and Citroen in 2016.
