Journalist Amr Adeeb revealed the reasons for the delay in issuing the final statement of the Cairo Peace Summit, saying that it is related to the demand of some Western countries to condemn what happened on October 7.
He said during his presentation of the “Al-Hekaya” program, broadcast on MBC Misr satellite channel, on Saturday evening, that some Western countries are demanding that what Hamas did be classified as “terrorist” and that Israel’s right to defend itself be affirmed.
He added: “You, as Egypt, are a country whose file, its national security, its history, and its geography. In this matter, we are trying to explain and understand – whatever the point of view of the other parties – and we seek to reach a ceasefire and reach a solution.”
He noted that “the governments of the world are not listening, while on the other hand, change is beginning to appear in the street through people’s sympathy for children, Palestinian blood, and Egyptian aid.”
He continued: “The goal of the conference is to tell people what the situation is and what we are doing, and what happens in the bilateral meetings shows the ability of Arab and Islamic countries to influence and discuss.”
He noted that “what is happening in the world is evidence of very Jewish Israeli hegemony over Western leaders,” adding: “The one whom God is most generous to us with is Spain, otherwise you see all colors of the spectrum.”
The Cairo Peace Summit will discuss developments and the future of the Palestinian issue, discuss the roots of the historical conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis, and push towards activating the peace process in the Middle East to initiate an urgent and comprehensive settlement of the decades-long conflict, in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative adopted by the Beirut Summit in 2002.
The summit will be held with broad regional and international participation representing 31 countries and three international organizations, in addition to a number of legal figures in the world.
