“The cancellation of the trip incurred a cost of 100,000 euros.”

The staff day for Brussels Taxation members, which was supposed to take place at Disneyland Paris after being canceled in 2020 due to covid, has been canceled again by the Finance Inspectorate. The event was to accommodate 600 adults and 140 children and cost €100,000, double the amount originally planned for 2020, which was deemed too expensive by the Finance Inspectorate. Brussels Taxation tried to argue that the increase in members and admission prices, as well as the opportunity to celebrate 10 years of service, justified the expense, but it was ultimately unsuccessful. The Finance Inspectorate cited the current crisis as the reason for canceling the event.

The members of Brussels Taxation have been waiting for their staff day for almost 3 years. Canceled in 2020 due to covid, this Family Day was to be organized again at Disneyland Paris. Unfortunately, the Finance Inspectorate decided otherwise, explain our colleagues from Echo.

And for good reason, 600 adults and 140 children had to take part in this trip, which cost €100,000 to finance the day and transport, i.e. double what was planned for 2020. A far too high expense for the Finance Inspectorate, which simply decided to cancel.

For its part, Brussels Taxation has not skimped on the arguments: increase in the number of members, increase in the price of admission to French parks, the opportunity to celebrate 10 years of service… Nothing has helped. For the Finance Inspectorate, such expenses are not conceivable in view of the current crisis.

In conclusion, the highly anticipated staff day for Brussels Taxation has been canceled due to the Finance Inspectorate’s decision not to finance the trip to Disneyland Paris. This decision was met with disappointment after a three-year wait for the event and the investment of €100,000 in its organization. Despite the arguments put forth by Brussels Taxation, the Finance Inspectorate deemed such expenses to be unjustifiable in light of the ongoing crisis. It remains to be seen if and when a new staff day will be organized for the members of Brussels Taxation.
