Appeared this Friday at the court of flagrante delictos in Dakar, Jean YK admitted the facts with which he is accused, however, he disputes the amount. He explains that she wanted her to find him an appointment at the Spanish embassy to obtain a visa, but that it was impossible because the application was rejected. “The civil party gave me 1.2 million instead of 2.8 million francs,” he clears himself.
He adds that in front of the investigators, he had offered the lady to pay him 150 thousand francs per month, but she refused.
According to the complainant, her uncle gave the defendant a sum of 1 million of our francs the first time he came to his house. “I gave him a total of 2.8 million CFA francs. He never offered me a method of payment. And besides, if that were the case, I was not going to accept. This money is intended for my mother’s medical expenses”, says Audette. Convinced of the consistency of the facts, the representative of the public prosecutor requested 3 months in prison against the accused. On the defense side, the defendant never had the intention of deceiving the lady. And calls for a benevolent application of criminal law.
In rendering his verdict, the president of the session declared Jean YK guilty before sentencing him to 6 months in prison, including 2 months in prison. And allocates the sum of 2.8 million to the civil party.
