The distribution of mail and parcels is disrupted in Wallonia due to a movement led by the CGSP, particularly in the provinces of Luxembourg and Liège. The socialist union intends to show its dissatisfaction to the management of bpost with regard to the project to reorganize services.
“We have been asking the company to discuss a new distribution model for months,” points out Emmanuel Despat, Luxembourg regional secretary of the CGSP. “For 23 years, we have been working with an outdated system. We want to discuss and find a suitable solution, but the company makes us understand that it will go through in force.
In the province of Luxembourg, only the distribution of newspapers for Wednesday, which had been blocked, and for this Thursday could be ensured. Parcels and mail were blocked in the various offices of the province.
In recent days, a similar movement has also affected the province of Liège.
Mr. Despat confirms that today/Tuesday “Brussels and Wallonia are affected” and the picketing should continue.
“The situation is serious,” insists Emmanuel Despat. “It’s time for the company to sit down.”
