Jean Claude Marcourtthe president of the parliament of Wallonia and of the Bureau, reacted to the suspension of the clerk of the assembly, Frédéric Janssenswhich was decided last Thursday.
Frédéric Janssens was in the hot seat after the filing of a complaint for harassment, the opening of a judicial investigation and the explosion of the expenses of the parliament.
The Bureau of the Parliament of Wallonia, which met on Thursday to examine the case of the clerk of the assembly, had taken the decision to suspend him with immediate effect for a period of 6 months, “in the interests of the service”confirmed the Bureau at the end of its meeting.
Jean Claude Marcourtthe Speaker of Parliament and the Bureau a commented on this suspension this Monday morning on Bel RTL. He was Fabrice’s political guest Grosfilly: “We are all going to do so that the institution is not weakened. A person has been appointed clerk “ad interim”. The situation was no longer tenable and we took the decision to dismiss Mr. Janssens for a period of 6 months which can also be renewed if necessary to allow the registry to serve Parliament on the one hand and to restore a serenity that no longer exists today on the other.“
The number one official “out” for a long time
Asked about the authorities’ slow response to civil servants’ complaints, Jean-Claude Marcourt considers that he did not drag to take measures against Frédéric Janssens: “We took them and let’s say few people expected the measures to be taken like this… The decision was taken on Wednesday and ratified on Thursday, that is to say before the petition from the officials arrived. But it is obvious that this sheds new light on the situation in which we find ourselves. It only reinforced (measures) but this is not the cause of the decision.“
On a possible return of the clerk, Jean-Claude Marcourt remain skeptical: “The conditions for his return are not met and I do not know if one day they will be…“he concluded.
