The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine announced the names of two athletes who will carry the national flag at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games. The ceremony will take place on August 11 at 22:00 Kyiv time. The live broadcast of the event will be provided by the “Suspilne” TV channels and the “Suspilne Sport” platform.
The silver medalists Ihor Parviz Nasibov (Greco-Roman wrestling) and Lyudmila Luzan (rowing) will be the standard-bearers of Ukraine. Luzan will perform this role for the second time, having already carried the national flag at the closing of the Olympics in Tokyo in 2021.
At the 2024 Olympics, Nasibov won a silver medal in the weight category up to 67 kg, and Luzan, together with Anastasia Rybachok, won silver in rowing in pairs at a distance of 500 m.
The list of Ukrainian flag bearers at the Summer Olympic Games was Vasyl Lomachenko (2008), Oleksiy Torokhtii (2012), Olga Kharlan (2016) and Lyudmila Luzan (2021).
