“The cloud allows massive electricity savings”, hammer experts

Should we fire on cloud computing and huge data centers, accused of swallowing up a large share of the world’s electricity? While the latter risks becoming rarer, and in any case more expensive, all eyes are on the data centers of tech giants. This Thursday, two experts discussed this crucial issue during an online conference organized by Time in collaboration with the American group Oracle. Babak Falsafi, professor at EPFL and president of the Swiss Datacenter Efficiency Association, as well as Régis Louis, vice-president for the cloud in Europe of Oracle, answered the questions of the Temps and readers.
