The location was not disturbed. But in the rooms for the fire brigade, mountain rescue and community music, hardly one stone was left unturned.
“The house was no longer up to date and the space was limited. We updated it from bottom to top and enlarged it. Fire brigade, community music, mountain rescue – they are all having a great time with it now,” says Mayor Norbert Meindl (ÖVP).
The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the beginning of April 2023, and the official inauguration was celebrated at the end of April 2024 as part of the Floriani celebration and with an open day.
The general renovation was carried out under the construction management of Salzburg Wohnbau und Bauwerk, and master builder Peter Hagn was responsible for the planning. The investment amounted to 3.1 million euros. Among other things, the building was made barrier-free with an elevator and equipped with a disabled toilet. “A very important point. We have wheelchair users in the fire department and the community band,” says Meindl. In addition, the radio room was renovated, a laundry room was built and additional storage space was created. Instead of the old electric heating, district heating is used and the roof was equipped with a photovoltaic system.
The fact that the fire brigade is always ready was also shown at the celebrations on the evening of April 27th. The alarm went off and four vehicles were dispatched to a fire operation in Unkener Heutal.
