The House adopted the bill in plenary session on Thursday authorizing pharmacists to administer the flu vaccine until December 31. The text was adopted unanimously, minus the abstentions of the N-VA and the Engagés.
If pharmacies can already vaccinate against Covid, the adoption of this law was necessary to also authorize vaccination against seasonal flu. Only pharmacists who have received training will be able to administer it. A list of participating pharmacies is available on the pharmacie.be website.
The initial intention was to open flu vaccination from October 1, but a request for a second reading made in committee by Vlaams Belang slowed down the legislative process. This date still appears in the legal text, which has not failed to arouse legal fears on the opposition benches.
This bill aroused strong opposition from the Belgian Association of Medical Unions (Absym). According to her, vaccination must be carried out by a doctor.
