The 33-year-old man, who is accused of stabbing to death his 36-year-old friend in an apartment in Frederikshavn, has been remanded in custody for four weeks on reasonable suspicion of violence resulting in death.
It happened at a constitutional hearing in the Court in Hjørring on Monday followingnoon.
The 33-year-old was clearly affected as he was led into court and cried as the charge once morest him was read out.
Here he is accused of, under particularly aggravating circumstances, stabbing his friend once in the chest with a knife.
One stab was fatal.
The 33-year-old pleads not guilty to murder, but has invoked emergency guardianship, as he believes he stabbed in self-defence, his defender stated.
After the charge was read, the doors were closed for the sake of the investigation.
Was pronounced dead at the scene
The police received the report regarding the stabbing on the night of Monday at 00:24.
When the police and ambulance arrived at the address on Buhlsvej, they found the 36-year-old badly injured.
First aid was administered, but his life might not be saved and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 33-year-old accused of murder was also arrested at the address.
The police have previously stated that the 33-year-old and the now deceased have been close friends for many years.
Been researching all day
The police have been present at the address, which is directly opposite the main entrance to Frydenstrandskolen, throughout Monday.
