The contacts to form the Lebanese government are spinning in a vacuum

Beirut – «Gulf»:

Pessimism has returned to haunt the government file, after the optimistic atmosphere spread by Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s visit to Baabda Palace to discuss the line-up he submitted to President Michel Aoun.

The information says that the meeting between Aoun and Mikati dealt with several proposals, including what Aoun presented in terms of keeping the government as it is, or replacing more ministers or vaccinating with political ministers, or in terms of what Mikati insisted on keeping the ministerial amendments, with some consideration to the requests of the President of the Republic. .

The sources stated that Aoun asked for time to study Mikati’s proposals, who rushed to make a positive statement about the convergence of views, which suggested that things were going towards forming a government quickly. Aoun held a meeting with Basil and set it up in the atmosphere of a meeting with Mikati, but Bassil informed Aoun of his absolute refusal to form a government in which he does not have the upper hand to help him enhance his political influence in the new era through diplomatic appointments and formations.

Sources talked about the return of all matters related to the formation of the government to square one, i.e. the square of stagnation, after it became clear that the last meeting between Aoun and Mikati did not result in a continuation of the research. So that Mikati’s visit to Baabda was not repeated, and no new contact was observed to resume the meeting.

As for the presidential elections, which are 10 days apart from entering the 60-day period for electing the new president of the republic, starting from the first of September and the end of next October, it is marred by a complete lack of vision of what is in store for him in the Lebanese box of surprises.

On the other hand, Minister of Health Firas Al-Abyad confirmed the formation of an investigation committee consisting of an administrative inspector and a number of stakeholders in the Pharmaceutical Inspection Department, the Medical Committee for Cancer Drugs and the Informatics Department at the Ministry of Public Health, with the aim of checking information circulated through the media about the loss of cancer drugs after a while. Short of delivered to the warehouses of the Ministry of Public Health.

Al-Abyadh stressed that the ministry takes the matter very seriously, and in the event that any violation of the law and medical, humanitarian and moral commitment is found, the file will be referred to the Public Prosecution for appropriate action.

The Minister of Health added: “What the drug file has witnessed since the start of the financial crisis confirms the correctness of what the Ministry of Public Health is seeking to achieve in terms of a strategic change in how to track and monitor drug movement through modern programs and systems.”
