– We have found no indications that any constitutional duties or parliamentary decisions have been breached. We are therefore putting the investigations aside, says leader Peter Frølich (H) in the control committee in a comment to NTB.
The control committee sent Mehl a letter on October 8, asking for answers to questions related to the report. The committee wondered, among other things, what was the background for work on the report being initiated and when the Ministry of Justice became aware of its contents.
It was Filter News which first revealed that the Ministry of Justice and Emergency Preparedness kept secret a so-called area review of the Police Security Service (PST). The report was commissioned by the government, which was highly critical of the ministry’s management of PST under Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp).
The report will show that the resource situation in PST is worse than what has been communicated to the public, in addition to directing strong criticism at the so-called management dialogue.
– The fact that the resource situation in the PST and the police in general is very strained is the result of a political prioritization by the government, and not something that it is right for the Control Committee to look into as long as the Storting has received the right information, adds Frølich.
