A video featuring cyclist Felix Groß, member of the Team Emirates team, and teammate of Tadej Pogacar, has sparked heated controversy on the networks. In this video which has gone viral, we can see the young man being towed by a truck during cycling training. Indeed, while he is driving, the young man helps himself to the vehicle by holding on to it with one hand.
This event therefore aroused strong reactions within the cycling community and it is important to note that the cyclist in question is not Felix Großschartner, but Felix Groß, a German playing within the team.
The reaction was not long in coming, as the team’s manager, José Antonio ‘Matxin’ Fernández, described the incident as “deplorable and unacceptable” in a tweet which has since been deleted.
He also wanted to clarify “that it is not regarding Felix Großschartner, but regarding the German Felix Groß, who will no longer ride for us in 2024”. The manager stressed that even though Felix Groß is under contract with Team Emirates until 2023, this incident remains regrettable.
It should be noted that Felix Groß will join the Rad-net Oßwald team from 2024.
