It would have been easy for them to bring in an old coach to ensure they stayed in the 2nd Regional League West. The obvious path was not taken in Spratzern. Instead, a young coach, Dominik Krautgartner, was given the trust. The desired solution from sports director Jochen Hnilicka, especially since the 34-year-old once played in splashes himself.
It doesn’t come without risk. For the coach, who has been tried and tested in the youth sector, the relegation battle is new territory, and certainly not for the team, which was actually put together with completely different objectives. At the SKN, Krautgartner was able to develop young players – in peace and with comparatively little pressure. In Spratzern, Operation Reconstruction must work straight away.
Krautgartner will put all his energy into it; he can definitely be trusted to take on the task, which is not an easy one. So that Spratzern’s courage is ultimately rewarded.
