DENVER, CO – James Craig, the Colorado dentist accused of murdering his wife, Angela Craig, now faces additional charges alleging he orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot from behind bars.prosecutors added charges of solicitation to commit murder and solicitation to commit perjury just one day after Craig’s previous attorney, Dan Steinberg, withdrew from the case.

The new allegations centre around letters Craig penned from jail, attempting to enlist a fellow inmate, Nathaniel Harris, to kill Bobbi Olson, the lead detective on his wife’s murder case, as well as an unidentified officer referred to as Officer Hillstrand, and two other inmates.

According to prosecutors, Craig wrote, “The worst, dirtiest detective in the world is on my case. Her name is Bobbi Olson, we have to discredit her.”

Beyond attempting to arrange killings, Craig allegedly sought to fabricate evidence. He targeted Kasiani “Kasi” Konstantinidis, Harris’ ex-wife, offering what investigators described as “essentially a blank check” to create false texts, phone records, and photographs to support a fabricated friendship between Angela and konstantinidis.

Investigators revealed a second intercepted letter indicated Craig believed his defense hinged on finding someone to claim Angela Craig was suicidal. he allegedly intended to present this fabricated narrative to both the district attorney’s office and his then-attorney, Steinberg.

Steinberg’s withdrawal from the case followed the discovery of these alleged attempts to manipulate testimony. Moses remains as counsel for Craig,and Ashley Whitham has joined the defense team.

Craig has not yet entered a plea to the new charges.

Meanwhile, a statement released to CNN by Craig’s publicist indicates the dentist is seeking mental health treatment. The statement requested “grace, compassion, and withhold judgment, knowing that the constant fight for justice takes out soldiers.”
