Ehe aroma of the mountains of the Chicamocha Canyon is adorned with the presence of a whole constellation of stars, which these days travel through the streets of the capital of Santander pedaling full of confidence, joy and illusion.
A real sports party is about to begin, by the hand of the ‘Cóndor de Cómbita’, the boy who from a small path became a historical giant of Latin American cycling; of ‘Supermán’ López, who is not afraid of risking his life in order to defend his bicycle; and the great Egan Bernal, who showed us that nothing is impossible if you have the discipline to achieve your goal, no matter how hard the test may seem.
The day has arrived and Bucaramanga hopes to see the fastest in action on Thursday. The time trial, women’s categories, men’s sub-23 and elites, will be taking place in the course of the morning.
Time trial (CRI) ladies
The meeting and signing point to start the test is at the Bucaramanga stadium (Cra. 30 Calle 14). Around 7:45 a.m. a control call will be given for the runners’ bicycles, at 8:00 a.m. the first athlete will leave, the start will be given in intervals of one minute per person.
The total distance planned for this category is 26.8 km, the planned route is: Stadium – Cra. 30 – Calle 10 – Cra. 27 – highway – Anillo Vial – Glorieta Alkosto – highway return – Cra. 27 – Calle 10 – Cra. 30.
C.R.I Sub-23
For this category the meeting point will be the same as the previous one. At 9:15 am the bicycles will have to go through the control point and later, at 9:30 am, the first cyclist will leave, the rest will take turns every minute.
The route will be 36 km and will take place through: Stadium – Cra. 30 – Calle 10 – Cra. 27 – highway – Ring Road – San Jorge parking lots – return highway – Cra. 27 – Calle 10 – Cra. 30.
CRI Elites
To end the day, the most experienced will have their chance. The start will be from the same area where the previous groups started, the first runner to start will do so around 10:15 am approximately.
This circuit will have 43.2 km and will circulate through: Estadio Alfonso López – Cra. 30 – Calle 10 – Cra. 27 – highway – Anillo Vial via MacPollo – highway – Cra. 27 – Calle 10 – Cra. 30.
For those who must circulate around the city, it is recommended to consult alternate routes with space to avoid setbacks in the planned commitments.
