The Israeli army announced that Israeli forces found a network of tunnels extending deep into central Gaza under properties registered in the name of Yahya Sinwar and other senior leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas,” who participated in the attack on Israel on October 7.
Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner told reporters, “The tunnels were found while soldiers were securing an area in central Gaza in the past few days.” The tunnels can be accessed via spiral stairs and an elevator at a depth of up to 20 meters underground. These tunnels are equipped with electricity, drainage, surveillance cameras, and explosion-proof doors.
Lerner added, “These tunnels, above and below ground, represent a center of power for Hamas’ military and political wings.”
