Sony has just revealed additional details about its PS5 cloud streaming feature, designed exclusively for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. This announcement coincides with the launch of the service in Japan on October 17, and thus brings crucial information that some players were impatiently awaiting.
As a reminder, European players still have to wait a few days before being able to try this new service, sinceit should be launched here on October 23. For their part, North American users should have access from October 30.
Which connection for streaming games from the cloud on the PS5?
In the announcement of the deployment of the service in Japan, Sony reminds that only PS5 games can be streamed on the PS5. Streaming service from the cloud is not available to play games through PlayStation Portal. It only allows you to play local games on your PS5 over a Wi-Fi connection.
Sony took the opportunity to reveal bandwidth recommendations, which could pleasantly surprise many users. Sony recommends “ only » 52 Mbps for 4K streaming, 38 Mbps for 1440p, 23 Mbps for 1080p and 13 Mbps for 720p. It is important to note that these are the recommended settings. The service is therefore more bandwidth intensive than Netflix, but this is not surprising since it involves video games.
Moreover, Sony specifies that the service can still work if you have limited bandwidth, with a minimum requirement of only 5 Mbps for 720p and 38 Mbps for 4K definition.
