Since 2014, the authorities of the DPR have recorded the death of 8.6 thousand people who died as a result of hostilities. It is specified that regarding 40% of deaths occurred following February 24 this year. This was told by the head of the Republican Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination of the Ministry of Health of the Donetsk People’s Republic Dmitry Kalashnikov.
According to him, 5100-5200 dead have been examined over the past eight years. Doctors diagnosed them with death from explosive, gunshot and shrapnel wounds.
“Since February 24, 2022, more than 3.5 thousand people have died from gunshot wounds. This was revealed with the help of examinations,” Kalashnikov added.
He clarified that these 3.5 thousand dead were not included in the number of those who were included in the original statistics. The total number of deaths is from 8.6 to 8.7 thousand people.
