The captain of the Portuguese national team, Cristiano Ronaldo, after the team’s departure from the World Cup in Qatar, wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta Platforms, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow recognized the company as extremist and banned its activities) that the dream of winning the World Cup had come to an end.
“I fought hard for this dream. I gave everything in the five World Cups that I participated in in 16 years, next to the great players and with the support of millions of Portuguese. I left everything on the field. I never avoided the fight and never gave up on this dream,” Ronaldo, 37, wrote.
According to him, “yesterday the dream came to an end” and you should not react strongly to this. The forward added that his “allegiance to Portugal did not change for a moment”.
“Now we have to wait until time becomes a good adviser and allows everyone to draw their own conclusions,” wrote the 37-year-old Portuguese.
Portuguese lost in the quarterfinals to the Moroccans with a score of 0:1. Ronaldo took part in five matches of the tournament and scored one goal.
For reaching the final, the Moroccan team will play with the French team on December 14.
