Egger: Austria has the fifth highest non-wage labor costs within the EU

Vienna (OTS) – “In the current economic climate, high non-wage labor costs stand in the way of a long-term competitive economy. Our export industry faces international competition and has to cope with higher personnel costs than companies in other countries due to the high wage agreements. A reduction in non-wage labor costs is therefore crucial in order to remain competitive in international competition in the medium term. Austria generates every second euro abroad and our prosperity is significantly affected if economic performance in international trade declines. “There is therefore a need for a gradual reduction in non-wage labor costs on the employer side and alternative financing from the budget so that unit labor costs are reduced and Austria no longer takes itself out of international competition,” said WB General Secretary Abg.z.NR. Kurt Egger.
