Ford is preparing for the sale of the car plant in Sarlui (Germany) and is already negotiating with potential buyers. According to the European press, the Chinese company BYD turned out to be the main contender, although Nedcar, Magna and several other firms are also interested in the purchase. The plant in Zarlui has been operating since 1970, but now only Ford Focus cars are produced there, sales of which are declining in Europe: last year only 79 thousand copies were sold, although in the best years there were 500-540 thousand cars. Ford intends to produce Focus only until 2025, after which the plant will be sold.
Company Fiat adopted a new development strategy, according to which the global model range will be unified. First of all, this means that the range of models for South America will no longer be unique, and the same Fiats will appear on the local market as in other regions of the world. The sovereignty of the Latin American division of Fiat was formed in the nineties of the last century, when local branches began to design original models for their own needs. Now Fiat will create the same cars for the whole world on the unified platforms of the Stellantis concern.
Holding Geely published statistics for 2022. 2.3 million vehicles of all brands were sold: these are Geely, Geometry, Livan, Lynk & Co, Zeekr, Volvo, Polestar, Proton, Lotus, smart, Radar, LEVC and Farizon. Compared to the year before last, sales increased by 4.7%. Of the total, rechargeable hybrids and electric vehicles accounted for 675,000 vehicles. Volvo sold 615,000 cars in a year, while the Polestar brand accounted for 51,500 cars.
