Residents whose multi-apartment houses have a modernized heating point have the option to continue heating.

“Compared with the prices of centrally supplied heat energy in other major cities of the country, this season, the biggest decrease in the price of heat since the beginning of this heating season was observed in the capital, according to the data of the Lithuanian Energy Agency.

The price of heat was decreasing

This heating season, the price of heat for Vilnius residents has consistently decreased and reached an average of 7.47 ct/kWh without VAT. This is 7 percent. less than last season. For comparison, 2022-2023 season, a kilowatt hour of heat cost an average of 8.01 cents without VAT.

AB Vilniaus šilumos tinklams (VŠT) managed to maintain such a heat price due to the stable prices of energy resources, which were determined by the market adapting to the changed geopolitical situation.

This heating season, more than half of the heat provided to Vilnius residents was produced from environmentally friendly energy sources, which, according to preliminary data, accounted for 69 percent. of all heat, 31 percent. consisted of heat produced from natural gas. This heating season, VŠT supplied Vilnius residents with about 2.2 TWh of heat energy, of which about 1.2 TWh was purchased from independent heat producers (NŠG).

A warmer winter means lower bills

The size of heating bills is determined not only by the price of heat, but also by the outside air temperature, which affects heat consumption. The average outdoor temperature was 1.4 °C, which is 0.2 °C warmer than last season (1.2 °C), with January being the coldest month of the season.

“According to preliminary calculations, this heating season, Vilnius residents spent 4% on heating. lower than last year. In the period of November – March, 50 sq. m. heating an apartment in an unrenovated, energy-inefficient apartment building cost about 88 EUR on average per month for Vilnius residents. The average heating costs of residents of renovated apartment buildings were more than 50 percent. lower and averaged around 41 EUR”, says Rūta Jasiulionienė, head of the Client Team of AB Vilniaus šilumos nettki.

May last during the heating season

This year, the favorable outdoor temperature allowed the heating season to end a few days earlier than last year, when the heating was stopped on April 12.

However, residents who want to heat longer can continue the heating season with the agreement of the majority of the co-owners – if more than half (50 percent + 1) of the co-owners of the apartment building agree with the decision to delay the termination of the heating, the chairman of the association, the house or the administrator of the apartment building must inform AB Vilniaus about the decision. heat networks.

It is important that the temperature in the apartments does not exceed the established hygiene norms. Based on the adopted decision, the heating in the apartment building is regulated by the supervisor of the heating and hot water system of the house.

At the end of the heating season, the heat supplier will perform pipeline diagnostics and necessary repair work in the entire heat supply network, and will reconstruct the worn sections of the network. In total, more than 8 km of pipelines are planned to be renovated this year.
