The 70 nominees for the awards organized by PRISA Audio and Cadena SER have been selected by an international jury specializing in media from among the 1,252 applications received this year. In total there are 56 selected projects from 36 audio production companies or creators from 12 countries. A large part of the nominations come from independent production companies, along with leading media projects and audio platforms in the Spanish-speaking field.
The announcement of the candidates was made in an official event broadcast live and held at LaCoproductora, an audiovisual content producer of the PRISA Group located in Madrid. The general director of PRISA Audio, María Jesús Espinosa de los Monteros, and Isabel Salazar, country manager from Podimo Spain, main sponsor of this edition of the awards. The reading of the nominees was carried out by Fizpireta and Uy Albert, hosts of the podcast Kings of the Palique.
Record of candidatures
The event began with the intervention of the general director of PRISA Audio, María Jesús Espinosa de los Monteros, who valued the number and quality of the works received this year, coming from 19 countries on the international scene: “We are convinced that this record number is a testament to the quality and diversity of talent that exists in the field of podcasting Worldwide”. The president of the awards jury also highlighted “the high level of excellence and creativity, which shows the consolidation of audio as a new cultural industry.”
For its part, the country manager from Podimo Spain, Isabel Salazar, highlighted the collaboration with PRISA Audio and Podimo’s support for the awards: “It has been three years giving visibility to creators and production companies, a work that is also part of our DNA, and that strengthens the industry” , began. “We are sure that we will continue to travel this path together and build the necessary bridges to make the industry podcast Spanish speaking a much better one,” he added.
During the meeting, broadcast live through the Youtube account of Ondas and Cadena SER, Espinosa de los Monteros revealed the date and location of the ceremony to award the statuettes of this edition: it will be at a gala that will take place next June 19 at the Teatro Circo Price in Madrid.
The winners will be announced in advance: next April 10, at 6:00 p.m., in the program Window of Cadena SER. This same day, the winners for the best Breakthrough Podcast and for Career in the industry will also be announced. podcast in Spain and Latin America who, unlike the rest of the nominees, will be appointed by direct election by the jury. As a novelty, this year a new category is incorporated, that of Best Videopodcast, where they are nominated The posh and the quinqui (Sotify), Queer flavor (Podimo), The year of emotions (RTVE), Bad people (we could) and Alone with Vicky Martín Berrocal (Podium Podcast). For the third consecutive year, the gala will be the culmination to pay tribute to the most excellent works and professionals in the sector.
