Today, Tramblay, whom we met giving a thrilling performance alongside Bree Larson in Room (2015), is quite a teenager, even his physical features have changed.

Although he maintains a sweet face, today he is a tall, thin young man on his way to becoming a Hollywood star.

Although the film starring Halle Bailey maintains several elements of the 1989 animated classic, there are others that have changed, some that many have applauded and others that have divided the public.

Flounder It is one of them. And it is that his appearance in Live Action is far from the character we met in the animated version, however, Tramblay’s voice gives him the necessary sweetness to continue becoming fond of him.

Jacob Tremblay on Flounder: “He’s perfect the way he is”

According to what the actor told us, the first time he saw Flounder’s design was when he auditioned for the film’s director, Rob Marshall.

“My first thought was that he was really cool and I had complete faith in Rob because he obviously knows exactly what he’s doing,” he recalled.

“And when I saw the movie, I will say that I think it was beautifully done and what I love is that all the fish that you see in the movie look very familiar and like you’ve seen them in real life,” he continued.

“And the way they come to life and start dancing is almost like you could almost go to the ocean and see that,” he added.

“I think it was great how they did it and I don’t think they should have done it any other way, I think it’s perfect the way it is, because it’s live action,” he closed.

“It feels real and it feels like this is something that’s happening in the real ocean. I think it is very well done, ”she also defended.

“I got goosebumps”

When it was announced that Halle Bailey would be the new Ariel, the controversy did not stop because it was an actress of African descent.

However, his acting and voice, which is now being praised by critics, changed many minds.

For Jacob Tremblay, hearing her sing for the first time is one of the memories he will cherish from this film.

“I feel like what I will remember forever is when I first heard Halle sing. It was just during rehearsal and she was really cool, we were all there, I think it was the pre-production process,” she recounted.

“Then we got to see all the rehearsals and obviously rehearse all the songs, and I guess timing was being determined… So I got to hear Halle sing in person,” she recalled.

“It was just a rehearsal, but she’s so talented and she was able to give an amazing performance, and not even trying, it was so beautiful, it gave me goosebumps and it made me really looking forward to seeing her in the movie.” acknowledged.

“Follow your heart”

More than the criticism that the story of The Little Mermaid can currently receive, where it does not seem to be a good message to stop being who you are for love, and even less to get married after three days, this Live Action does have several lessons, in addition to exclusivity .

For the actor, the main message for children, “I would say is that they just follow their hearts.”

“Obviously, at a young age kids have a lot of passions and I think what this movie does is show that, that it’s very important to pursue those passions and really be yourself and love who you love,” she said.

The film also addresses the relationship between Ariel and her father, King Triton, who does not approve of the young mermaid’s curiosity with humans.

“(The movie) obviously has elements like the father-daughter relationship and how it’s important to also let go. I think that’s really beautiful.”

Chilean roots

What very few know about Tremblay, who provided the voice for Luca, is that he has Chilean roots on his mother’s side.

Although he was born in Canada, his grandfather is Chilean, just like his mother.

“Unfortunately, I have never been (to Chile). It’s definitely on my wish list,” she said.

“I really want to go because I still have a lot of family that lives there and I would love to visit. I know it’s a beautiful place,” she added.

Another of the young actor’s great desires is to learn Spanish. “I wish my grandfather would have taught my mom Spanish, but I don’t know why he didn’t, that’s how they would have taught me. I think it’s obviously a beautiful language, so I’d love to learn it,” he closed.

The little Mermaid It is now available in all theaters nationwide.
