Peaches are considered one of the healthy summer fruits for the eye, as they contain a nutrient that provides them with an amazing set of benefits, according to Dr. Jihan Al-Demerdash, a clinical nutritionist.

Jihan said that the nutrient from which peaches derive their eye benefits is beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A, known for its ability to:

– Immunizing the eye against infectious diseases, such as conjunctivitis, because it contributes to strengthening the immune system and enhancing the body’s ability to combat viruses and bacteria.

Dr. Amir Hamza, a consultant ophthalmologist, agreed with her, explaining that vitamin A also contributes to protecting the elderly from the risk of age-related vision loss, by reducing the risk of developing macular degeneration diseases, such as glaucoma.
