Former captain of Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Jawaria Khan has announced her retirement from international cricket.

National women’s cricketer Jawaria Khan started her 15-year ODI career on 6 May 2008 against Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup at Kurunegala Sri Lanka while she made her T20 International debut in 2009 against Ireland in Dublin.

Jawaria represented the Pakistan Women’s team in 228 international matches and scored 4,903 runs, including 2 centuries and 25 fifties, while also taking 28 wickets.

Jawaria is currently the second highest run-scorer for the Pakistan Women’s team in ODIs and T20Is, while Bismah is the only female cricketer from Pakistan to score more than 2,000 runs in each format apart from Maarif.

She represented Pakistan in 4 50-over World Cups and 8 T20 World Cups, while Jawaria Khan was also a part of the Pakistan Women’s Team squad that won gold medals in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games held in China and South Korea.

Jawaria also captained the Pakistan Women’s team in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is, she captained the team in 2 editions of the Women’s T20 World Cup (2018 and 2020).

The 35-year-old Karachi-born cricketer also participated in the PCB Level 2 Cricket Coaching Course held in Lahore in August last year.
