This is interesting news that obviously concerns a little more behind the scenes of the war waged by the semiconductor giants. Intel has just secured the services of the engineer at the origin des SoCs M1 d’Apple, Jeff WILCOX.
This is obviously further proof of Intel’s ambitions, but it is not the heist of the century either. Indeed, in the semiconductor industry we see that more and more “talents” are moving back and forth between the main companies in the sector without speaking of poaching or betrayal. However, we will pay attention to the work of Jeff because he has many patents filed in his name.
I am happy to share that I have started a new position as a collaborator at Intel, as CTO of the Design Engineering group, Client Architecture SoC. I couldn’t be more excited to work again with the amazing teams out there to help create groundbreaking SOCs. Great things are to come!

On this subject, before going to Apple, Jeff WILCOX was in post… at Intel where he was in charge of chipsets from 2010 to 2013. He also made a brief stint at Nvidia between 2007 and 2008. We will also remember the case of Jim KELLER who was able to make an even more complex circuit going from AMD to Apple and Tesla to finally arrive at Intel (which ‘he left in 2020).

We will therefore not consider this recruitment as a victory for Intel, most of the big names in this sector now operating in project mode, over a given period. Nevertheless, the pool that looks into the future of Intel products is starting to be damn rich and this is the main information. The blues are forming an impressive group.
It remains to understand where the blues want to go with the SoCs. The company has been on the subject for a while and has a lot of tools. like Foveros to regain the upper hand, particularly in the area of mobility.
