THE FERRARI RISI ON TRACK AT PETIT LE MANS IN ATLANTA

The Risi Competizione team announces its return to the tracks, on the occasion of the last round of the 2022 US Endurance Championship of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the 25th annual Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, from September 29 to October 1.

The Ferrari GTD-Pro N°62 team, a former five-time Petit Le Mans winner, including its last visit in 2019, as well as its previous victories in 2016, 2009, 2008 without forgetting the first Petit Le Mans in 1998 is donating back to Braselton!

Giuseppe Risi, Team Manager of the Year, also celebrates 25 years of competition under the Risi Competizione banner in North America.

The drivers for this year’s entry include Ferrari factory drivers, Brazilian Daniel Serra, Italian Davide Rigon and Briton James Calado.

This year, the Risi Ferrari team has contested the previous three races of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup of the IMSA WeatherTech 2022 series in the GTD-Pro category, including the 24 Hours of Daytona (second place)the 12 Hours of Sebring (ninth place / pole) and 6 Hours at the Glen (second place in class).

Giuseppe Risi, here confie:

“Our team has a long history at Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans race. Because we won the first race here in 1998, that still holds a special place for me. Since that first outing 25 years ago, we have been on the podium several times, including the top step. It certainly never gets old. We’re still aiming for the win, so we’ll be looking to do it again this year. »

The last time Risi Competizione competed at Petit Le Mans was in 2019 when Calado took pole with a new qualifying record in the GTLM class. The team went on to win the 10-hour race with Calado’s teaming with Serra and his regular WEC World Endurance Championship teammate, Italian Alessandro Pier Guidi.

Calado, who recently won the 6 Hours of Fuji in the WEC World Championship, has two appearances and victories at Petit Le Mans, both with Risi, in 2019 and 2016. He is also a double WEC World Champion (2019, 2021).

Serra is also a two-time Petit Le Mans winner, having won in 2019 with Risi and 2018 in the GT Daytona class. (GTD) with Scuderia Corsa.

Finally, this will be Rigon’s first Petit Le Mans race, but he has participated seven times in the 24 Hours of Daytona and two races in the 12 Hours of Sebring with the Risi team.
