Their daughter, Amy Carter, read a letter Jimmy wrote to Rosalynn 75 years ago while he was serving in the Navy: “But when I see you, I fall in love with you all over again. Does that seem strange to you? Not to me. Goodbye, honey , see you tomorrow”.

Rosalynn was involved in her husband’s campaigns and political career, even participating in “key Cabinet meetings and briefings” when he was president from 1977 to 1981, according to the official White House website.

“She gave me good advice and always encouraged me. While Rosalynn was in the world, I knew that someone loved me and supported me,” added the former Democratic president.

Rosalynn’s farewell began Monday when former and current agents of the United States Secret Service, which protects presidential families, escorted her casket to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta. The public was invited to pay their last respects to her.
