The fire broke out inside the “Madame Moustache” nightclub, according to firefighters. It would be a short circuit at the back of the bar at the origin of the flames, explains one of the partners who runs the nightclub. The man would have tried to grab a fire extinguisher at the sight of suspicious blue smoke but no longer able to breathe, he made the decision to leave the premises.
“No casualties have been reported yet.“, specifies the spokesperson for the Brussels fire brigade, Walter Derieuw. The perimeter on part of the Place Sainte-Catherine was cordoned off for part of the followingnoon. “The places are difficult to access, the rear annex has collapsed” he added as the operations were underway.
