On Tuesday evening, North Jutland’s emergency services responded to a fire in a solar center on Klarupvej in Klarup.
Some paper in a bin in one of the sun cabins had caught fire.
– There is a lot of plastic in a solar center like this, so it developed a violent, thick, black smoke, says Frank Winther, who is the project leader at North Jutland Emergency Services.

– There was fire, but the worst was the smoke, he elaborates.
The solar center in Klarup is built together with a Meny supermarket, and the smoke started to draw into the store through the ventilation system.
– We asked the customers to stay away from the back part of the store until we switched off the ventilation system and stopped the spread, says Frank Winther.
He says that the Meny store is completely smoke-free again.
The solar center, on the other hand, is severely damaged by smoke and soot, says the project manager.
– It is completely black in there, he says.
Frank Winther does not want to guess how the fire in the rubbish bin started, and points out that it is a task for the police.
North Jutland Emergency Services received the alarm call at 17.12, and a little more than an hour later the firefighters were on their way back.
The police were also present with several patrols at the solar center on Klarupvej. It will be their task to determine the cause of the fire.
