Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, went to Turkey to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and “discuss the aid” that Qatar can provide to Turkey after last week’s devastating earthquake, according to a source familiar with the visit with a statement. @CNN.

Thus, Sheikh Tamim is the first leader to make an official visit to the country since the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey on February 6.

Qatar News Agency reported that Doha is operating relief flights to Turkey to transport search and rescue teams, along with vehicles, a field hospital, tents and other supplies.

For his part, Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Rumaihi, Director General of the Qatar News Agency, published a tweet in which he said: “His Highness the Emir, may God protect him, is visiting Turkey today to meet with His Excellency the Turkish President. It is worth noting that His Highness directed the operation of an air bridge to support Turkey, as well as the allocation of 10,000 mobile homes to the areas affected by the Corona virus.” The earthquake … and the proceeds of popular donations to the ‘Awn and Support’ campaign amounted to 168 million riyals.
