The world’s first “Dragon Ball” theme park is being built in Saudi Arabia. It’s all about the world of the magical martial artist Goku and his friends – known from comics, films and games. The amusement park is part of a Qiddiya Investment Company project near Riyadh, the franchise owner announced on Friday. It will feature seven areas full of rides, attractions, hotels and restaurants.

“Dragon Ball” first appeared in the Japanese comic magazine “Weekly Shonen Jump” in 1984 and was later adapted into films, video games and television shows that were enjoyed in more than 80 countries. “Dragon Ball” creator Akira Toriyama passed away at the age of 68 earlier this month.

Saudi Arabia is trying to diversify its economy with a series of mega-projects in the entertainment sector. Qiddiya will be built on a site more than twice the size of Disney World in Florida and will include, among other things, a “Six Flags” roller coaster theme park.
