In 1962, Abdullah Al-Awaid launched the first private radio station in the central region, and it was the same year that witnessed the holding of the King’s Cup final between Al-Hilal and Al-Wehda, which was transmitted through that radio with the voice of the famous sports commentator after that, Muhammad Ramadan.

“Tami”, which is the nickname of Al-Owaid, got acquainted with Ramadan, and persuaded him to present a sports segment on the radio. On the day of the final, the latter broadcast the last 15 minutes of the Al-Hilal and Al-Wehda match, which witnessed the first victory in its first championship in its history.

That match was not only important on the radio, but also that it was the first final match hosted by Al-Sayegh Stadium in Riyadh, which hosted 7 after that, and had it not been for one of its owners, Muhammad Al-Sayegh, the radio would not have been able to broadcast it.
