The past hours witnessed a dispute between the Lebanese star Elissa With the “Watari” company, which deleted Elissa’s new song “Al-Oqd” from YouTube, hours after it was released and achieved more than 120,000 views, because the song’s video contained content belonging to the company that falls under the umbrella of property rights.
Immediately after deleting the song, Elissa went out and explained through a tweet on Twitter, in which she said: “My contract with Watari originally ended on August 12th. If the problem was solved, and today more than ever, I became sure that the most important decision you took with a company was that you left and understood enough!!!”.
In turn, the company, Watari, issued a statement to respond to Elisa’s statements, which stated: “With our love and full respect for the great star Elisa, despite the dispute that occurred, and because the right is supreme and not superior to it, here is also a clarification of the following: What we are presenting was not and will not be for obstruction or with the aim of harm, but We are a company that bows before judicial rulings and only takes the path of truth.
The statement added: “The Watari company found itself forced to take all legal measures in order to preserve its rights, (waiting for the outcome of the invitation filed in Dubai, as it is the only one qualified to settle the dispute between the two parties according to the contract), noting that we have repeatedly tried to resolve the dispute by various means. Love, but without reaching any positive result.
And the statement continued: We also affirm that we have no objection to reaching a solution that satisfies both parties, provided that everyone who has a right preserves his right, in order to support art and complete our duty in the world of music and entertainment.
