The fire that hit the Teker poultry meat processing company in Willebroek on Tuesday evening is now under control, local police said. Extinguishing operations will however continue for several more hours.

The damage is significant in the company, located Ten Bergstraat. According to the first available elements, the fire would have taken in the kitchen. However, the cause of the accident is not yet known.

The blaze caused a significant release of smoke, forcing residents to keep doors and windows closed. Some streets have also been blocked to facilitate the deployment of emergency services.
